Election of Sabine Eichinger, M.D. as Chair-Elect of the ETHA

The European Thrombosis and Haemostasis Alliance (ETHA) is pleased to announce the unanimous election of Sabine Eichinger, M.D. as Chair-Elect of the Alliance. This strong endorsement from the full ETHA membership reflects the deep confidence and support she has earned across the European thrombosis and hemostasis community.
A Leader in Thrombosis and Hemostasis
Prof. Eichinger is a highly respected figure in the field, known for her outstanding contributions to clinical care, research, and education. She currently serves as Deputy Head of the Department of Hematology at the Medical University of Vienna, where she also leads the outpatient hemostaseology unit. Her internationally recognized expertise in blood coagulation disorders and thromboembolic diseases positions her as a vital asset to ETHA’s leadership.
Beyond her clinical and academic work, Prof. Eichinger brings significant leadership experience. She is a member of the ISTH Council (Class of 2030), contributing to the Society’s efforts in publications and guideline development. Her past roles include serving on the Board of the European Hematology Association and the European Consortium on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, as well as chairing the ISTH Scientific and Standardization Subcommittee.
Preparing for the Future
As Chair-Elect, Prof. Eichinger will work closely with the current Chair over the coming year to ensure a smooth leadership transition. She will assume the role of Chair in 2026.
