Member highlight: Slovak Society on Haemostasis and Thrombosis


The Slovak Society on Haemostasis and Thrombosis (SSHT) is dedicated to promoting knowledge, research, and advancements in the field of thrombosis and haemostasis in Slovakia.


SSHT's mission is to bring together healthcare professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of blood clotting disorders and bleeding disorders. The society aims to foster collaboration and provide a platform for the exchange of scientific information, research findings, and clinical experiences related to thrombosis and haemostasis. Through educational programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops, SSHT seeks to enhance the expertise of healthcare professionals and contribute to improved patient care and outcomes.

Areas of focus:

  • inherited and acquired thrombophilia

  • genetics of thrombophilic states, predominantly the etiopathogenesis of sticky platelet syndrome

  • haemostasis in vascular disorders (preeclampsia, arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus) and thrombotic microangiopathies

  • monitoring of the effectiveness of direct oral anticoagulants

  • haemostasis and genetics in at-risk pregnancy

  • monitoring of dual anti platelet treatment

  • haemostasis and oncological diseases

  • thrombotic complications in bleeding disorders

  • novel therapies for haemophilia and immune tolerance induction in haemophilia management and genetics of von Willebrand disease

  • diagnostics of rare bleeding disorders

  • rotational thromboelastometry in various fields of medicine (hepatology, orthopaedic surgery, gynaecology, etc.)

  • autologous stem cell transplantation in critical limb ischaemia
